My dad is a soldier. He goes to training camp every few months. I do not like when he goes to camp because I do not get to see him for a long time. When my dad does come home, he always surprises me. Today, I was at my Spelling Bee at school. I was nervous because I was not a very good speller. When it was my turn, I stood up. My teacher said, “Sara, your word is ‘grateful.” I thought that I could never spell that. I was about to give up when I saw my dad in the crowd. He gave me two thumbs up. So I did my best and spelled ‘g-r-a-t-e-f-u-l’ just for him!
