Why Is Sampling Not Applicable To Small Population?

why is sampling not applicable to small population?

Let’s consider two populations – one with 1000 members and one with 10 members. Both have a high degree of variability of their members.

If you decide to take a 10% sample of the larger population, you are working with 100 individuals and are much more likely to obtain a ‘true estimate’ of the entire population than you are from the single member that you choose to represent 10% of the smaller population.

The high variability of the population is averaged out in the larger sample and is actually concentrated in the smaller one
